The vast Canterbury alluvial Plains have many well sauced aquifers that are used extensively for both irrigation and town water supplies.  The water wells up in Christchurch creating pristine rivers that meander into a large picturesque estuary and the ocean.

With increasing usage for farming on the plains, many folk are concerned for the future of these valuable resources. World-wide, aquifers of various types are invaluable to human settlements.

We learn how water arrives in aquifers and how it is used and sustainably managed by communities.  Interested groups explore the consequences of unsustainable use of these life giving treasurers.
