Rotorua

|
On the shore of a large (active) caldera lake this city is the centre of attractions for visitors to the North Island. Nearby are exciting geysers and boiling mud pools where Maori people lived for hundreds of years enjoying the free energy for heating and cooking. Everywhere we find steaming vents from the boiling subterranean activity. Studies help us understand tourism that is attracted by natural features then develop with new man made attractions taking with it more services and more variety of facilities.
