This is the southern South Island's fruit growing region. Due to its weather and environment intensively managed areas of rich greens contrast spectacularly with the brown and gold landscape. 

For decades this Zone has produced a large share of the seasonal temperate climate fruit such as peaches, apricots cherries apples, pairs.  Recently grapes exploded on to the scene producing many award winning wines.

A short visit to one of the orchards enables us to sample the goods, look around the trees and learn about the industry where the excellent fruit growing environment offers many challenges. Try some of the produce, see the trees, take a wander around and enjoy the invigorating atmosphere.
