This zone is protected from the rain bearing air currents by mountains and space. Rainfall is only 450mm, winters are very cols and summers can be hot.

Studies
We learn to understand factors that cause deserts and discover some of the ways this environment can be improved for human habitation.   We explore the layout of the region to see the causes of desert lands and investigate its native plants, birds and insects to see how they are able to cope with the unfriendly weather conditions. Desert areas are popular for human habitation and we discover adaptations made to the land for more successful habitation. 

We explore the new uses of the lands for grape & fruit growing.
