Train ride We can take the world renown "Tranzalpine" train, one of the world's great scenic railways. It crosses through the Southern Alps following the plains, giant river gorge, valleys, tunnels and viaducts needed to cross the South Island from one side to the other. The scenery is just outstanding. As well as the comfortable seats and large windows we can stand in an "outside viewing carriage" and watch the supreme beauty of the alps. When finally built last centaury, the journey through the Southern Alps reduced from 3 days to 1.
