This long deep gorge offers one of New Zealand's premier commercial rafting experiences.  Between its towering walls we find lots of exciting white water, colourful history, amazing scenery and geographic wonders.

Studies
Tectonics plays a large roll in the geography of this large river. Earthquakes are common along its way and many deaths have occurred over the years from these events and flooding.  We can look at these events, learn how they happened and explore ways of avoiding the resulting dangers.
