Highest among spectacular snow capped Alps, Arthur's Pass township has been servicing travellers and recreationalists for more than a hundred years after its first settlers built a giant railway tunnel here.
Studies
At the National Park information centre we explore the history and nature of the communities community. We can explore the issues involving mountain settlements (land care, visual impact, services, protection from landslides, snow, avalanches, fire, and floods, earthquakes, power failures, loneliness). We can survey the town listing the commercial industries so we can best understand how the town survives economically. and we can investigate the planning in place for emergencies, future developments and their survival ratings.
