Forests We find many exotic pine forests planted for timber. Because of the fertile soils most of the native forests have long been removed and replaced by farms. We find pockets of natives in most tours. With some extra time, we can explore a national park to gain insights into the unique wonders of New Zealand's native dinosaur forest. Tours travelling North of Auckland can enjoy the giant Kauri trees, unique to NZ. This area shows is many varieties of coastal forests.
