This is the largest river in the zone and the one we can fully examine and enjoy. 

Studies
We visit river measuring station and view the equipment used to measure the water flows and rainfall. An information centre displays measuring equipment and show us the stories of fishing, conservation , trailblazing, Maori involvement, and recreation in the valley.

We can investigate erosion and deposition processes and the sorting processes involved with bed-load movement relative to flow rates.
