Murchison Settlement

Set near the large Buller River Murchison offers us a short break during our journey.  Some good shops, and an information centre to tell us the stories of the coal mining in the area.  We find displays of some of the ingenious machinery used for the mines in these remote areas. Earthquakes As with other places there are many earthquakes here. This town suffered from two massive (fatal) earthquakes because of its close proximity to the active tectonic fault-line.
