Buller Gorge

The exciting Buller River passes gouges through its deep gorge of picturesque forests, ghost towns and dilapidated mines.  It follows an active fault and we see evidence of earthquake activity in the scarred hillsides and regenerating forests.  (The last major quakes were 1929 & 1968).  Pre historic Maoris followed this gorge between its source lakes and ocean food supplies.

White water rafting
Here we find a premier rafting experience with the best value for fun, rapids, and excitement.

Studies
Here we find lost of examples of earthquake activity (This flows in secondary faults near the intercontinental fault)

There are remnants and ghost towns from the late 1800 gold rushes that show us the vulnerability of towns and industries.

River studies cover the forces of flowing water among others
